Writing down your goals is an integral part of your career development and should be something that you do often.
When you take the step of writing your goals down, what you are doing is taking your goals out of your head and beginning the process of holding yourself accountable for those goals.
Anyone can talk a good game about what they want to accomplish in their life or in their career, but those who are serious and actually do it are the ones who build accountability by first writing out their goals.
As you make the conscious effort to write down your goals, you’ll find that the confusion will begin to dissipate and you’ll start to see and think clearer.
This new found clarity is key because it enables you to better put your life and the obstacles you believe to be holding you back into perspective.
What is the biggest obstacle that Black people face in the workplace?
You may begin to see that the problems you once thought to be insurmountable, are actually not so difficult after all.
Another reason why writing down your goals is important is that there are times when you need to seek out the opinion and support of others and having written goals makes it easier for you to share those goals with persons that you trust who can offer you honest and unbiased feedback.
